More Shopping
If you like shopping undercover then head towards Messagne for Auchan. Auchan houses 64 shops including a huge supermarket. You will find the likes of Motivi and countless other clothes stores here. You will also find a big electronics store and good old MacDonalds.
Beaches
Approximately 7 km from Ostuni or 30 minutes drive from San Michele Salentino, you will find Pilone beach. Along the coast you will find a selection of 'lido's' which offer shaded car parking, showers, toilets and snack bars. You can also hire sun loungers and umbrellas for a small fee. You usually pay under 5 Euros to park your car for the day and have use of the showers and toilets.
You can always head towards Torre Canne if you prefer a more seaside type resort. This is approximately 25 minutes from Ostuni.
Alternatively San Michele Salentino to San Georgio (just south of Taranto) and head towards Pulsano, then lookout for signs saying 'Litoranea' take any one of them and you will discover some really nice beaches. It will take you approximately 30 minutes to drive to here from San Michele Sal.
